Visiting North Yorkshire make sure you play golf at Forest of Galtres Golf Club in England
05 October 2018
The course is situated in the heart of the ancient Forest of Galtres, just 2 miles from the northern section of the ring road around the historic city of York. From the 7th green, York Minster is visible to the south, and to the north, 20 miles away, one can see the White Horse of Kilburn on the Hambleton Hills.
The rural and peaceful nature of this ancient forest area, with its mature oak trees, has been enhanced by much additional tree planting. The lakes on the course have been designed to provide water storage for irrigation whilst at the same time coming into play as interesting water hazards.
All of the greens have been constructed to the demanding specification of the U.S.G.A. in order to create putting surfaces capable of all year round play. This 'perched water table' concept is a major contributory factor towards the superb quality of the greens.
