There can be few more impressive golfing locations than Matfen Hall. Situated in the heart of rural Northumberland, yet within easy reach of Newcastle Upon Tyne, the former seat of the Blackett family has been converted into a luxury country house hotel with stunning views over its own highly rated 18 hole golf course. 

Measuring 6,500 yards from the back tees, the course is laid out on a classic parkland landscape with fairways and reens flanked by majestic trees. The layout offers an enjoyable test for all golfers and challenging water features have been incorporated in the shape of a large lake and the fast flowing River Pont. 
The dry stone 'ha ha' wall also presents a unique obstacle. Matfen's signature hole is surely the long par 3 17th, with its narrow green cunningly sited just over the river.
