Besides golf, culture is a most in this area and as part of Galicia.

The Camino de Santiago from Sarria is one of the most famous routes, not only in Spain but worldwide. The number of stages from Sarria to Santiago is one of the reasons why many pilgrims decide to start the Camino in this beautiful town of Lugo. The kilometers necessary to get the Compostela upon arrival in Santiago is another reason. Sarria is located 114 kilometers from the Cathedral of Santiago, so its location meets the minimum 100 kilometers so that pilgrims on foot can get the Compostela at the Santiago Pilgrim Office.

From Sarria to Santiago there are 5 stages of pilgrimage that run through the provinces of Lugo and A Coruña. Every year pilgrims from all continents make this Jacobean Route that crosses green landscapes, crosses historical towns and offers multiple services specially designed for the Camino de Santiago.

The church of Santa Mariña, located on Rúa Maior, is where the Camino de Santiago in Sarria begins, one of the places where you can get the pilgrim's credential. Other places to go to have the Credential are the Rosary Church, the Madalena Monastery and the Sarria Civil Protection Office.

From Sarria, the towns through which the Camino passes are Portomarín, Palas de Rei, Melide, Arzúa and O Pino, to then arrive at Santiago de Compostela. In addition to the cobbled streets of Sarria, where the atmosphere of the Camino is breathed in every corner, pilgrims will have the opportunity to discover unique places such as the Portomarín reservoir, with the old town under its waters, from which its ruins can be seen when the rains; come to know heritage jewels such as the Pambre Castle, in Palas de Rei or enjoy one of the totems of Galician gastronomy, eating a delicious octopus á feira in Melide.

In the last stage, the Mount of Gozo receives the pilgrims. Located about 5 kilometers from Praza do Obradoiro, this mountain is the first place from which pilgrims can see Santiago de Compostela, with the towers of the Cathedral. This last stop before reaching the desired goal is perfect for taking a break and taking in the views of the city.

In addition to all these cultural, gastronomic and heritage attractions, another of the strengths of this Jacobean Route is its landscapes. The pilgrims cross centuries-old forests, riddled with typical Galician trees, such as chestnut, oak, birch or willow, and they walk accompanied by green meadows, rivers and streams, with small villages that come out step by step.

The great landscape and heritage value of the French Way from Sarria is one of its main strengths, but not the only one. Walking from Sarria to Santiago presents multiple advantages for pilgrims, since both the characteristics of the terrain and the services for pilgrims is a Camino de Santiago that can be carried out throughout the year.

As for services for pilgrims, the towns through which the French Way passes have a great Jacobean tradition and have multiple accommodation places, regardless of whether it is low or high season. There are public hostels for pilgrims, private hostels, rural houses, hotels, hostels and pensions throughout the 5 stages. There are also establishments where you can buy drinks and food for the Route, hospitality businesses and shops with typical products.

The fact that they are 5 days of the Route also favors, due to the time and availability of the pilgrims, that this route is one of the favorites when choosing the starting point of the pilgrimage.
