The Darlington Golf Club

Haughton Grange, Co. Durham Darlington, DL1 3JD

The Darlington Golf Club was founded in 1908. The course was designed by Dr. Alistair Mackenzie and has remained predominantly the same since. The rolling contours of the greens bear the distinctive hallmark of the great Doctor and are very fast in the summer necessitating a deft touch with the putter. The key to scoring at The Darlington are the par threes. Most are over 200 yards and the short third, while only 160 yards, is probably the signature hole on the course; here the prevailing wind is off the right, and with out of bounds lurking at the back left, a lapse in concentration here and one is reaching for another ball!

The Darlington's Amen corner comes at the 13th, 14th and 15th. The thirteenth and fourteenth are both over 400 yards and the 15th is one of those infamous 220yard par threes. After a round relax in the clubhouse and enjoy the hospitality.
