.Designed by golfing legends, nephew and uncle, Christy O’Connor Junior and Senior, the course is set to become a jewel in the northern part of the country challenging golfers of all standards. The beauty of Lough Muckno is evident throughout the course. Christy Jnr said, “the viewing point for tournaments are second to none, I knew we would have 18 holes looking out onto the big lake, plus a practice ground and a great site for the clubhouse”.
Concra Wood Golf & Country Club PLC was planned and developed by the passion of Castleblayney Golf Club, they took inspiration from their neighbouring clubs to produce an 18 hole golf course. It’s several years since Castleblayney Golf Club decided unanimously to purchase the 240 acres of land from Coillte. This was financed by the sale of preferential shares to members then followed by shares been sold to individuals all over the world. In the intervening years various committees were formed to develop a wonderful championship golf course. As Christy O'Connor Jnr said, “that he had no doubt that Concra Wood would hold a major international golf event in the future”.
