Reddish Vale has an impressive pedigree having been designed by Dr Alistair MacKenzie, the designer of Augusta National, Cypress Point and Royal Melbourne to name but a few. The plain fact is that the course is a very fine test of golf.
MacKenzie made full use of the site which is full of natural ravines and gullies. Mark Rowlinson writing in his book, Golf Courses of Cheshire says " Reddish Vale presents me with a dilemma: it is my duty to share it with others, or should I underplay its' merits and keep the place to myself?".
The great Henry Cotton said of the picturesque 16th hole "This should be packaged up and sent to every golf club in the land".
