Oakdale Golf Club, designed by the famed Dr Alister MacKenzie and opened in 1914, hosted many north British professional tournaments in its early days. Recent improvements have brought many MacKenzie style features back to the course layout which, although close to the town centre, provides spectacular views over the local countryside and the town alike.

There are no 2 holes the same and the interesting terrain make it a shotmakers paradise. The attractive clubhouse is usually full of life with members and visitors alike, and the club restaurant is renowned throughout Yorkshire for its quality and variety of food.
