Llandrindod Wells Golf Club

Clubhouse, Llandrindod Wells LD1 5NY

Founded in 1905, laid out by Harry Vardon and inaugurated with a match between Vardon, James Braid and the legendary J.H. Taylor this members' club has an impeccable ancestry. The 18 challenging holes of this 'upland links course belie their 5,759 yards; the course record is still only 65. Lush upland turf fairways on which the ball sits up invitingly, turf banks and natural hazards, with true and well protected greens, present a fair but critical examination of a golfer's prowess; sheer strength will not suffice. Not for nothing is the 18th named 'Death or Glory'.Linger awhile on your round and absorb the magic of the soft sweeping hills, patrolled by buzzards and red kites. Apparently perched on a mountain edge, the dining room offers a kestrel's eye view of the Victorian town of Llandrindod Wells and its lake.
