Follow in the footsteps of the original golfing pioneers, where the great sport of golf began...
Since golf first became popular in the 19th century, GB and Ireland have boasted some of the finest links courses in the world. This is a fact testified to by several eminent writers, the late Henry Longhurst once commented:
'Some of the Irish links, I was about to write, stand comparison with the greatest courses in the world. They donít. They are the greatest courses in the world, not only in layout but in scenery and 'atmosphere' and that indefinable something which makes you relive again and again the day you played there.'
There are less than 200 'true' links courses across the globe. One of the key benefits of being an Open Fairways member is that you can enjoy substantial savings at over 100 of them located throughout GB and Ireland. From an Open venue such as Turnberry to Championship links such as Lahinch, County Sligo and Cruden Bay to hidden gems such as Portsalon and Ashburnham, there is something for every purist to savour!
